About Me

Way back in the sands of time I was a bit of a lost soul and I really didn’t know what i wanted to do with my life. Completely unrelated, at that time I absolutely loved doing my hair in my bathroom!

Everyone in my life told me to do something with all that passion for hair colouring, but I was resistant. I really couldn’t understand where I would fit in within salons. My experience within salons was limited, but I never felt like I fitted in, even as a client. How would I spend my working life in one?

Eventually I enrolled in hair college and I really loved it; I worked in a few salons afterwards. I found that the environment is and was the most important thing! I needed to work somewhere that I felt instantly comfy because really I wanted that for my clients when they walked through the door.

These days I spend my time doing the type of hair that I always wanted for myself when I experimented on myself in my bathroom. Vivid hair is what got me on the road to my dream career, so that’s what I specialise in. Vivid hair doesn’t absolutely have to be in your face; it’s a genre of hair that can be surprisingly subtle. That’s why I love it x

Qualifications

I don’t do kids cuts at all. My insurance doesn’t permit me to do chemical services on those under 16.

Unfortunately, I cannot do any hair cuts that are shorter than ear length. Despite trying over the years I have never mastered it. This includes pixie cuts, mullets and especially short bobs.

I am a massive dog lover and there are dogs in the salon often. I have my own dogs, neighbourhood dogs who like to say hello and I am lucky enough to have a dog walker/handy man extraordinaire Danny of Honeys Hounds in my orbit. I find mostly everyone loves the addition of the dogs in the salon, but I can’t ever guarantee there won’t be dogs for the duration of an appointment if you are planning to visit and are not comfortable with that.

Experience

I only like to have one client in at a time so it’s pretty private. I do this because I value peace and quiet, also connecting with my clients and because I don’t feel I can give 2 heads of hair my full attention at the same time. Occasionally I have dry cuts in between but I will never have two colours in at once

The main colour line I use is Osmo Ikon (vegan + CF). Crazy Colour for vivids (vegan +CF) but have been trying out some Original Mineral, Pulp Riot and Danger Jones (all vegan + CF). I do occasionally use Wella colour (not vegan/CF) but I would always ensure the client is okay with this before using it. I like to be transparent and I am an open book as is my salon, so I would never want anyone to see any non vegan/cruelty free products and think there is any crossover

McLennan Street is one way and the parking isn’t amazing. You can tend to find spaces on the main road or dotted about the residential streets around the salon.

When big events are on parking can be difficult as some streets become permit only. Usually only at weekends and later on, but if you are worried about parking I’d advise to take public transport in part or the whole journey if you can. Mount Florida train station is at the top of the road. If driving you could park at Crosshill station and either jump on the train for one stop or walk to McLennan street. The 31 and 31A buses also come right past the salon.
